I was looking for an Episcopal church that didn’t require driving to Ithaca, and I wanted a place for my girls when they were small to go to Sunday school. I wanted a small church, and I found one right down the road from Dryden in Slaterville Springs. The first Sunday I came, everybody was delighted that I was here. They talked to me about my past and asked what I was looking for. I came in 1979 and I’ve been here ever since. The good people in the congregation were easy to talk to. We created a Sunday school by driving the kids downtown to St. John’s and then coming back for the second part of our service. As the girls got older they enjoyed being with their friends in Dryden and the Presbyterian church was welcoming. Fred delivered them to the Presbyterian church, I came here, and everybody was happy. Our girls went to Sunday school in Dryden all the way through high school and I stayed at St. Thomas. This is the place where I needed to be.
